"No man in the world has more courage than the man who can stop after eating one peanut." //Channing Pollock
Said like a wise man indeed. So as usual in February, our family gathered for the annual gorging on seafood to celebrate our cousins' and grandmother's birthday. It was AWESOME, really. I had like a mountain of drunken prawns, two helpings of salted-egg crab, a plate full of scallops with kai lan (healthy okay), about five mantous, two guilty glasses of coke and a slice of vanilla ice-cream cake to wash down everything. It was terrible, our table was eating like there was no tomorrow.
And my cousins are so darn adorable la! Aww, just look at them haha :) It was also good to catch up with my older cousin KW who was going back to Australia and to reminisce with KY about the times when we were still young and we played stupid games together haha. KY was lamenting, "Oh noooo, we're hitting the BIG 20, we're officially ooooooldddd!"
The next day, went with Rachel for some cheap-thrill-retail-therapy at Fash Bash! It was really good because we went there pretty early before the place got crowded. Rachel managed to get some really good buys (Miss Selfridge shorts for $5! Pull & Bear dress for $12!) and I got a Zara top for $15! The people there were really nice and friendly also haha, quite willing to bargain with us :) All in all, it was fun because all the things we bought fit us pretty well haha, so we didn't waste any time or money! Then we walked around Vivo some more, haha trying to keep our shopping momentum going. But it was at pull & bear that I found my one true love!
Okayy, I'll admit it doesn't look as good in the picture, but in real life, it was like fast and furious love! THE CAMERA DOES'NT DO IT JUSTICE, IT'S REALLY DAMN BEAUTIFUL. Everyone should go to pull & bear to like get a glimpse and gently caress this beauty. Too bad, it's wayy too expensive for me, I would have willingly given up a month's lunch money for this jacket lah.
Then went to meet Chris for dinner (haha, like two times in one week already lah) at Bugis. Luckily he knows all the foodie places, otherwise we'll end up going to like aston's or some place which we've been to like a thousand times before. And the great thing is that, he always dispenses good advice with the good food. You know the lyrics to 'Stop and Stare' are actually very meaningful? It says "Stop and Stare, you think you're moving, but you go nowhere." Sometimes, we think that it's okay and we have moved on, but actually we're going no where. So if he's confused about what he wants, you have to be certain of what you want and need, and not let him affect you. How true.
Anyway, he brought us to like this whole back street at Bugis where there are rows and rows of good food. So we had duck rice at You Kee and dessert at Ah Chew's Dessert House, which is apparently his favourite dessert place haha. That's watermelon sago dessert by the way, and it's PINK. Haha, such a happy colour that I couldn't resist taking a photo! And to top off the let's-eat-alot-of-rich-good-food-week, I had an ice cream cone at Mac's!
