thank YOU

"I'll lean on you and you lean on me and we'll be okay."
//Dave Matthews Band

so once again, we're at week 13. school's winding down, and the study's break coming. then it'll be the BIG, SCARY exams before the first year of SMU is finally gone and done with. but, before it all ends, i'm glad i spent it with you guys.

studying with rachel and jojo on weekdays and weekends is really satisfying. we get to talk, to study and to drink strange stuff. err, that's the soy latte that rachel ordered. haha, and it's great to study with people who don't stress you out and give you encouragement when you need it :)

i enjoy my BGS group, i really do. but this is taking it a bit too far haha.

we met on friday, saturday and sunday just to work on the presentation slides and the report! but the good thing is, there's always screme vanilla ice-cream when de ming is around! haha, and okay friday night, we snuck off to play arcade at AMK HUB. okayy and we treated ourselves to brownies on sunday cos we worked so hard these past few days.

haha, i'll be glad when all this is over and we can meet each other just for fun and laughter.
if not for Macau, BGS would have really been a pain in the ass :)
but thank you all, for making BGS a great experience.

if crim was the most interesting module last term, LRW wins hands-down for the most interesting module this term. if you're not sure why, you can ask jojo on her opinions, hahaha i'm sure she can give you many reasons why LRW rocks. haha, but the best thing is to have a small class of people who are genuinely helpful and giving towards each other, a prof who cuts through all that law bullshit and yet is actually a softie at heart, and most of all, doing the toughest parts of this mod with jojo (and getting advice from justice vik)!

it was damn fun while it lasted, really and it taught me alot about proper legal writing. i'll miss tuesday classes deeply :)

faith.

;09:49

"If you are sad, ask yourself why you are sad. Then pick up the phone and call someone and tell him or her the answer to the question. If you don’t know anyone, call the operator and tell him or her. Most people don’t know that the operator has to listen, it is a law. Also, the postman is not allowed to go inside your house, but you can talk to him on public property for up to four minutes or until he wants to go, whichever comes first."
//No One Belongs Here More Than You, Miranda July

i know all the things that people tell me.
i know that God has a plan for everyone. i know that pain and suffering is part of the reason why this world is fallen. i know that if we pray persistently, He has the power to heal.
i know that if we pray and believe, our actions and our words should reflect that faith.

yet, when i see her suffer, there is a twisting in my heart that i cannot explain. and it hurts, because i can't do anything to help. and i cannot explain to myself, why sometimes it is people who are faithful that suffer this way. i suppose,it's part of growing up. the people who grew me up are getting on in years and they are no longer the healthy people i remember. it's just, i know we shouldn't be discouraged, but it's so hard sometimes when i see the pills she has to take before meals (7 x 3 times a day!), the injections to test the sugar-level in the blood (2!) and the painful process of changing bandages and cleaning the wounds.

my pastor once asked, what do you have to do before you become a man of faith? he said, faith is not seen by one great act of faith. it is accumulated in the times when the going gets tough and the tough get praying. little by little, before you know it, you become a man of faith.

i'm not even anywhere near being a person of faith. but, i'm not giving up now.
i lift my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from?
my help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.
though my heart is torn, i'll praise you in this storm.

law school stress

21 March 2009 ;15:59

"Oh sweetheart, you don't need law school. Law school is for people who are ugly, boring and serious. And you button, are none of those things."
//Elle's father in Legally Blond

yes, i don't want to become any of those things too.

lots of presentations and major assignments due in the next two weeks with way too little time. if I thought doing the office memo and client letter was bad, the appellate brief is like the mother of all terror. just doing a first draft of the brief strikes deep, dark fear into my little heart. it's always like this in the later weeks, all the slacking early on comes back to haunt you and suddenly you realise that you're pretty screwed cos you didn't do notes in class for the first few weeks. i haven't slept properly in weeks and i feel damn unhealthy. haha, and my sister was just telling me about how chubby and cute i was from my photos in taiwan.

now, i look like a ghost.

no wonder rachel was talking about how we scare ourselves in the morning by looking in the mirror. sigh, i'll actively become healthier once all this is over.

oh, holidays, please do come soon.

love goes on a binge

17 March 2009 ;10:32

"Cooking and eating is like love.
It should be entered into with abandon or not at all."
//Harriet van Horne
of it all, I love the fact that I would not have touched these foods ever if I had not been with you.
you've opened my world way beyond KFC, chicken wings and fish n chips. and I can't go back to the way I've been eating before haha, no no.

moots!

12 March 2009 ;09:10

//Don't build up your argument slowly to a climax. There's seriously no point.
Just hit me, hit me, like a tsunami.

-- Prof CSY

Jojo and I in formal wear after our first mooting practice!

she kept moving backwards so that her face will appear smaller laa haha. and CSY filmed down our individual moots and put them on Youtube. luckily or unluckily for me, I was too sexy for his camera so he couldn't film down my mooting session. haha, oh well, I'll just ogle other people's mooting practice.

haha and look at the super super cute thai boy we found while preparing for the moots at siglap starbucks!

he's really a natural at melting girls' hearts can haha. everytime, you aim the camera at him, he gives you the puppydog eyes :) it's been a really really good week for me, i managed to talk to weilin! and i bought stuff that i needed. well, everything is good except that the work is piling up as usual. haha, but only 5 weeks more to the holidays!

last night

10 March 2009 ;10:29

//天很黑 风很急
你把我抱得很紧。

if a heart could skip, mine skipped more than a few beats last night.
it was drizzling, the wind was strong, but everything else was warm.
and i'm glad that it was there, and no where else.

remixing my heart, one song at a time

9 March 2009 ;16:16

//When I was all messed up and I heard opera in my head
Your love was a light bulb hanging over my bed
- Ultraviolet by U2

twice this week, he has come under the cover of night to stand at the bottom of my house. the first time, he brought me a laptop bag and the second time, he brought me chocolates. almost everyday for the past three weeks, even when I was in macau, we've had telephone conversations that stretch on into the early morning.

and i've never talked so much about how i feel before in my life.

this time, it feels real. this time, I don’t have to play the hiding game and I don’t have to beg for affection. this time, he actually brings me places to get to know who we are. and I remember what I said to my friends, that I’ve felt actually real happy for the first time in months.

but, at the same time, it scares the shit out of me. to fall into something as deep and unfathomable as this. because I know what I would say if I was watching from the other side. because I know some of what Jojo says is right. because I'm gonna have to remix my heart, one song at a time.

going slow is all I can take right now.

but, you're really pretty unstoppable.

//Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.
Erma Bombeck

okay yes, so I went to macau over the recess week holiday. haha, it's called recess week what! so anyway, it's my second time in macau, I went there when I was about 4 years old. apparently, I was on a ferry from Hongkong and my only memory is that I puked all over the deck. so ya, haha, I had pleasanter memories this time :) and while it was supposed to be a study trip, I managed to get quite alot of shopping done haha, so it was really pretty fun!

haha, us in our formal wear for the hotel tour the next day! seriously, deming looks like a groom to be haha. we all look so grown-up :) but the hotel tour was pretty fun, notwithstanding the fact that they ducked all our questions about the hotel's performance in the economic downturn and they refused to show us their presidential suite.

camwhore deming! haha, he whips out his camera wherever he goes, even in the lift, he's taking photos of everybody haha.

and they have this cute place called QUBE, where the parents can dump their kids while they go to the casinos. pretty sad concept if you think about it but at least it's fun for the kids. they have playstations, tvs, playgrounds, balls and even free internet wireless access la, kids are having the good life here.

went to visit MGM Grand hotel the next day, so I was doing my best impression of a roaring lion haha.

then we went to Galaxy Starworld hotel which seriously had the best service. the people were all super nice and they showed us the high-roller's room where the toilets are seriously bigger than my bed room. that's the toilet in the second picture, it overlooks the whole cityline of macau haha. we didn't want to leave the toilet after that :)

then, we celebrated yanling's 20th birthday on the third night! it was nearly a failed celebration because the guys got lost in the hotel la, but luckily we managed to make it a few minutes after midnight so it wasn't so bad :)

our happy BGS group! haagen daaz ice-cream cake what!

then went to st paul's on the last day for some last minute camwhoring, shopping and sightseeing. haha, actually there's nothing much to see in the church since the back part's been demolished by a fire. but still, it was fun to go and absorb the touristy atmosphere. there were like tons of chinese tourists milling around the place when we were there.

all in all, macau was damn fun and i'm glad my BGS group pressured me into going. hey, school's stressful but we al need a break :)
